Approximately 30% of individuals with treatment-resistant schizophrenia do not respond to conventional medications. Clozapine is commonly prescribed for such cases, but finding the right dose is challenging. This study analysed data from three independent samples and found that a genetic risk score for schizophrenia was associated with higher clozapine doses prescribed to patients. The findings suggest that genetic factors related to schizophrenia may influence treatment decisions for individuals with treatment-resistant schizophrenia.
