One of the goals of the REALMENT project is to design a clinical management platform/decision support tool to help guide clinicians and patients in the choice of relevant treatment for individuals with mental conditions. To improve the design and contents of the tool, stakeholders were encouraged to give input to the design of the platform by responding to several questions in an interactive fashion. An engaging and lively discussion followed.
Key findings from the forum:
The stakeholders highlighted several crucial factors when making clinical decisions about medication. These factors include predicting the benefit-risk ratio, ensuring compliance, personalizing treatment and enhancing the quality of life, long-term assessment, affordability, accurate diagnosis, and understanding of symptoms. The ideal decision support tool should integrate comprehensive patient data, provide quantitative outcomes, narrow down medication options, consider holistic factors, acknowledge limitations, caters to different user groups, learn from successful implementations, involve stakeholders, and prioritize ease of use.
We are grateful to the stakeholders for their active participation and valuable contributions to the forum. A follow-up meeting aims to be specific on what can be offered in the decision support tool given available data while giving some examples of the interface and again request feedback about the user interface, both for clinicians and patients.
