REALMENT at the 37th ECNP Congress in Milan

Join us on Sunday, September 22nd from 11:25 to 12:10 at the ECNP Congress for an interesting session on "Using real-world big data to understand mental illness."

Featuring REALMENT researchers, including expert Olav Smeland from the Oslo University Hospital, -a key project partner-, and moderated by Professor Barbara Franke from Radboud University in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, this gathering is a crucial platform for discussing the potential of big data in revolutionising psychiatric treatment.

The session will highlight our progress in psychiatric genetics over the past decade, including significant discoveries in susceptibility genes for mental disorders. Despite these advances, the translation into clinical practice remains limited, underscoring the urgent need for large-scale data to enhance prediction tools.

The EU-funded REALMENT project is at the forefront, leveraging real-world data from eHealth, biobanks, and national registries of 1.5 million individuals to develop innovative machine learning tools and prediction algorithms. These tools aim to optimise medication response and minimise adverse effects, ultimately enhancing patient care and quality of life.

The project is currently testing these tools, focusing on identifying the most impactful real-world applications and clinical settings. Your feedback is invaluable as we fine-tune our Psychiatrist’s Cockpit for optimal clinical use.
